Robert Burns Supper 2019

Robert Burns Supper 2019

Ages 21+
What day of the year combines haggis, whisky and poetry with lots of fun and laughter? Burns Night of course!

Robert Burns is known as The Bard of Scotland and his birthday is celebrated in January throughout the world. The celebration involves eating Haggis, (Scotland national dish), drinking whiskey and celebrating, through song and poetry, the life of Robert Burns.

There will be toasts and speeches and songs and poems and KILTS the likes of which have never been seen in Lancaster! Enjoy a traditional Scottish fare of cock-a-leekie soup, haggis (a Scottish sausage that looks like a round sausage tied at both ends), neeps (mashed rutabaga) and champed tatties (pronounced champ-ed, and really just mashed potatoes), helped down with a dram or two of whisky. It will involve wearing full Scottish regalia, (if possible). We will stay close to the traditional Burns Night format with full, fun pomp, bag-piping and circumstance. Among his better known poems are 'Auld Lang Syne' and 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose'; we'll give you a rendition of both of these well-loved songs and more on January 26th!
